Step-by-step guide to review active sessions, log out unknown devices, and protect your account
Your Facebook account may be logged in on multiple devices—some you forgot, and some you didn’t authorize. Checking this helps you:
Spot suspicious logins
Log out devices you don’t recognize
Prevent unauthorized access
Keep your personal info and messages safe
Open a browser and visit accountcenter.facebook.com
Log in with your Facebook credentials if prompted
On the left-hand menu, click Password and Security
This section shows your login activity and security settings
You’ll see a list of devices currently logged into your account
Each entry shows the device type, location, and last active time
If you see a device or location you don’t recognize:
Click on that entry
Press the Log Out button
This will immediately end the session on that device
After logging out unknown sessions, go back to Password and Security
Click Change Password
Choose a strong, unique password you haven’t used before
Save it in a password manager or write it down securely
Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added protection
Review your Trusted Devices and remove any you don’t use
Check your Recovery Email and Phone Number to make sure they’re up to date
Use a different password for Facebook than for your email or other accounts
