And what you can do about it
If your computer is running Windows 10 and won’t upgrade to Windows 11, you’re not alone. Many older devices don’t meet Microsoft’s new requirements. This guide explains why, what it means for your device, and how Field & Rural Tech Services can help.
Microsoft has set strict hardware requirements for Windows 11. Your device may be blocked from upgrading if it doesn’t meet one or more of these:
TPM 2.0 chip (Trusted Platform Module)
Secure Boot enabled in BIOS
Compatible processor (usually 8th Gen Intel or newer)
At least 4GB RAM and 64GB storage
You can check compatibility using Microsoft’s PC Health Check tool.
Microsoft will continue security updates for Windows 10 until October 14, 2025
You can keep using your device safely with regular updates and antivirus protection
We recommend weekly restarts and monthly system checks
If your device is borderline compatible, we can help upgrade RAM, storage, or enable Secure Boot
For older systems, it may be more cost-effective to buy a refurbished Windows 11-ready PC
If your device is slowing down, we can install a lightweight operating system like ChromeOS Flex or Linux Mint
These are great for basic tasks like email, browsing, and printing
✅ Keep Windows Update turned on
✅ Uninstall unused apps
