Quick steps to clean up your inbox and stop unwanted newsletters
If your inbox is overflowing with newsletters, promotions, and updates you never read, Gmail has a hidden feature that makes it easy to unsubscribe. Here’s how to find it and use it.
Gmail’s Manage Subscriptions tool shows you a list of websites, newsletters, and mailing lists you’re subscribed to. From one place, you can:
See who’s sending you regular emails
Unsubscribe with one click
Declutter your inbox without hunting down individual messages
Go to gmail.com and sign in
This feature works best on desktop or laptop
On the left side of Gmail, scroll down and click More
This reveals hidden options like Spam, Trash, and Subscriptions
Scroll until you see Manage Subscriptions
Click it to open Gmail’s subscription dashboard
You’ll see a list of senders you regularly receive emails from
Each entry includes the sender name and a brief description
On the far right of each entry, click Unsubscribe
Gmail will either unsubscribe you directly or open the sender’s unsubscribe page
Follow the prompts to confirm
Unsubscribe instead of deleting: This prevents future clutter
Mark as Spam: If unsubscribing doesn’t work, mark the email as spam
Create filters: Automatically archive or label newsletters you want to keep
Use a secondary email: Sign up for promotions with a separate address
Review subscriptions monthly: Keep your inbox focused and organized
Gmail’s subscription manager may not show every sender—some use hidden email tactics
You can still unsubscribe manually from any email with an “Unsubscribe” link at the top
Gmail learns from your actions—marking emails as spam helps filter future ones
